Carpmaels & Ransford is delighted to offer our two week Intern Programme, hosted at our Central London office from 29th June 2020.

If you are attracted by the prospect of joining a firm at the forefront of intellectual property law, our two-week intern programme for aspiring patent attorneys could give you a real insight as to what the job entails.

The programme is designed to give you a better understanding of the profession and give an insight into working life at the firm. It includes seminars, case studies, work shadowing and involvement in client meetings and live cases. There is also an opportunity to see the social side of the firm, engaging with all members of the team from partners to trainees.

If successful, you will be paid for the duration and receive a contribution towards travel expenses; you will be responsible for your own accommodation.

Who should participate?

We typically offer up to 16 internships each year.

In order to enter the patent profession, it is a key requirement to have a STEM degree. Please see our list of Accepted degrees for the profession; this is not an exhaustive list.

Priority will be given to applicants who are expecting to complete their academic studies or research within the academic year following the intern programme.

How to apply

When applying, please select the most relevant practice group based on your degree. Guidelines are provided in our Accepted degrees section. Should you be uncertain, we will ensure your application is directed to the most suitable practice group for review.

For students with non-UK qualifications, the following links are a useful source of information:

When completing the qualifications section of the application form, please input the UK equivalent grade.  You will also have the opportunity to provide further information.

We are happy to review any extenuating circumstances which you feel may have impacted your academic results.  On the application form, you will have the opportunity to provide details.

To apply for this opportunity, please complete our short application form and attach your CV.  Applications will be accepted until 6th March 2020.

The number of spaces on our intern programme is limited. Failure to be selected for an internship should not discourage applicants from applying for a graduate position or other future insights.
